This seafood restaurant is one of the hardest place to be “google” on Google. Mellvin with a double ‘L’ constantly be misplaced in the internet. Hiding behind all the eateries in Joo Chiat Road, this served one of the best place to eat zi char.
Starting our dinner: Salted Egg Yolk related dish had been so “pop” in the social media. However, this dish was one of the pioneer – Made from real salted egg yolk. The chef lightly fried the sliced bitter gourd and used the salted egg yolk with curry leaves to ease the bitterness. I loved the bitter sweet which made it so refreshing to eat.
This must be the best stir fried vegetable EVER! Mini dried flounder deep fried till crispy and matched nicely with spicy XO sauce. The stink bean and long bean perfectly clothed with the sauce. The spiciness and wok hei hit our taste bud simultaneously.
Must order in their stall. The marination from fermented beancurd tenderized the pork collar. Just a light pad of flour then fried till brown. Easy to eat and best with beer.
Very complex dish to make. Yam steamed, mashed and mixed with lard. Shaped into a heart shape and slowly fried. After the shape was firmed and crisp, then topped with cashews and prawn. Just by this dish, their standard had outdone so many restaurants.
Many said their fried hor fan and fried rice were worth trying too. Honestly I was very surprised with their quality. Restaurant quality dishes at hawker pricing. Famous prawn mee located inside the coffee house but don’t forget to try this seafood restaurant.
