Wee’s Family Coffee Shop opened by ex-banker, Milton Wee. Mr Wee kept all his zi char dishes robust and comforting. Wee’s Family Zi Char took over the small Bedok coffee shop which made seating readily available.
No sand found in the clams and heavily seasoned with spring onion and ginger. The Chef the thickened sauce and clothed every single clam. At every mouthful, we enjoyed the sweetness of the clams and aromatic spring onion and ginger.
Stir fried under high heat and seasoned with Chinese wine and soy sauce. The green and crisp still retained within the Xiao Bai Chai.
We were pretty surprised by this dish. The deep fried chicken tossed in this “special sauce.” It had light Chinese wine taste and grainy yam-like texture. The flavor was so unique which you must try to understand how it felt.
Totally overran with curry and heavily loaded with vegetable. We could finish two plates of white rice with this pot of curry fish head. This curry fish was more on the creamier side. Messily delicious.
Because my mom insisted on ordering this dish, I got to try out the worst dish of the year. The stinky ammonia smell overpowered my entire palate. It was so bad that I could not swallow. Thankful, it was our last dish of the night.
Even though Wee’s Family Zi Char was a small and cozy zi char stall, its quality was above Kopitiam standard. Great place to visit for a small gathering. Next time I would give their shrimp paste wing and salted egg prawn balls a try.
